Arrive at Beijing (D)
Arrive in Beijing, capital city of China. You will be met by our Asia Journeys' local representative and escorted to your hotel. Accommodations at the Doubletree By Hilton Hotel (5*) or similar.

After breakfast, we start our tour to China visiting the world's largest public square – Tiananmen Square. Then, proceed to The Forbidden City, the palace home for the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, Enjoy an afternoon visit to a pearl factory where you will learn about the farming and cultivating of pearls in China, followed by a visit to the Temple of Heaven, where China's emperors came to pray for a good harvest. After dinner, enjoy an Acrobatics Show or the amazing show, "The Legend of Kung Fu".

Beijing

Today's highlights include an excursion to the Great Wall, an astonishing feat of engineering. On the way, stop to learn about the different qualities and grades of jade, the most popular stone in China. We then visit the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. A photo stop will be made for you to take pictures of The Bird's Nest, and the "Water Cube", venues for the recent Beijing Olympics. Enjoy a walk along Wang Fu Jing Street and for dinner enjoy a welcome banquet featuring a traditional "Beijing Roast Duck" dinner.

Beijing - Shanghai (B, L, D)
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, enjoy a visit to the Shanghai Museum, which houses 120,000 cultural artifacts. Later visit the Old Shanghai Bazaar one of Shanghai's most famous sights. This is followed by a presentation at a silk carpet factory where you will learn the delicate procedures for production of Chinese silk carpets. Later visit The Jade Buddha Temple built in 1882, famed for its rare cultural relics, and porcelain artworks carved with whole white jade.
Accommodations at the Shanghai Regal East Asia Hotel (4*) or similar.

Shanghai (AB, L)
Continue your Shanghai tour, visiting The Yu Garden, a famous classical garden located in Shanghai's colorful and bustling Old Town. You will also visit and walk along the Bund, the symbol of Shanghai on the western shore of the Huangpu River. Then see China's most famous shopping street, Nanjing Road, which starts at the Bund in the east and ends at the junction of The Jing'an Temple and Yan'an West Road in the west. Dinner is on your own.

Shanghai - Suzhou - Zhou Zhuang - Shanghai (B, L, D)
Travel to Suzhou, famous for its classical Chinese gardens. On the way to Suzhou, stop and visit the beautiful little water town of Zhou Zhuang. It is one of the most famous water towns in China, noted for its profound cultural background, well preserved ancient residential houses, elegant water views and it's strong local traditions and customs. Continue to Suzhou, which has been called the “Venice of the East”, and visit Hanshan Temple, next to the Grand Canal. Also visit the Garden of the Master of the Nets and return to Shanghai for overnight.

Transfer to the airport for your homebound flight back to USA.
