Hometown to Beijing
Today you’ll depart from your hometown to Beijing on Cathay Pacific.

2 |
Day 02 Beijing (L, D)
Arrive in Beijing, capital city of China. You will be met by our Asia Journeys' local representative and escorted to your hotel. After lunch you'll visit the Temple of Heaven, take a walk along Wang Fu Jing Street and enjoy a welcome banquet featuring a traditional "Beijing Roast Duck" dinner. |

3 |
Beijing (AB, L, D)
After breakfast, we start our tour to China visiting the world's largest public square - Tiananmen Square. Then, proceed to The Forbidden City, the palace home for the Ming and Qing Dynasty Emperors for over 500 years. After lunch, we take an excursion to the Great Wall, an astonishing feat of engineering and one of the World Heritages listed by UNESCO. We then visit the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved imperial garden in China. |

Beijing- Xining (AB, L, D)
After breakfast you will be transferred to airport for a flight to Xining, Capital of Qinghai Province. On arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. After lunch, a city tour will include the Liuwan Museum of Ancient Painted Pottery with its collection of almost 38,000 objects. Later visit the Qutan Temple to see the 500 year old frescoes. |

5 |
Xining - Lhasa (AB, L, D)
his morning will be at your leisure to explore Xining on your own. After lunch, visit Kimblum Lamasery and the Provincial Museum where the museum? archaeologist will give a short lecture. This evening, you embark on the Tibet Express bound for Lhasa. Experience amazing countryside as you climb towards Tibet. Overnight on the train. |

6 |
Lhasa
Spend the morning on the train with views of the source of the Yangtze River. Pass through a National Nature Reserve where it is possible to view the rare Tibetan antelope plus other animals. Arrive in Lhasa in the evening and transfer to your hotel. Welcome to the land known as Shangri-La and former kingdom of the Dalai Lama. It has been the center of Tibetan Buddhism for hundreds of years. You will marvel at Lhasa? palaces and temples set against a backdrop of towering peaks. |

7 |
Lhasa (AB, L, D)
This morning, visit Jokhang Temple, one of Tibet's holiest temples. See the Golden Buddha which is made of pure gold and encrusted with jewels. In the afternoon, visit the Sera Monastery built in 1419 and a training centre for Buddhist monks. There will be time to
go shopping on Barkhor Street. The balance of the day is at leisure. |

Lhasa (AB, L, D)
First, an early visit to the amazing Potala Palace built in the 17th century and at one time the seat of Tibetan religious and political activity and the former home to the Dalai Lamas. It is now a museum 13 stories high and consisting of 1000 rooms. Also visit Drepung Monastery, an active lamasery and Norbulinka Park which was the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas. It is a building with 370 rooms and set amid a 100 acre garden. |

Lhasa
This morning proceed to Pa Rong Ka Temple and stop enroute to visit a typical Tibetan community - a great photo opportunity. The balance of the day is leisure. |

Lhasa - Chongqing (AB, L, D)
This morning is free until you board your flight to Chongqing. Upon arrival, you?l be met and transferred to have dinner. Board your cruise ship for the awe-inspiring Yangtze River - Century Diamond in the evening. |

Yangtze River Cruise (AB, L, D)
Today's shore excursion is to Fengdu, "Ghost City", known for its statues of ghosts and devils on a reclusive mountain named Mingshan Hill by the Yangtze. After the land excursion, there are various cultural programs you may attend on board. |

12 |
Yangtze River Cruise (AB, L, D)
This morning you'll pass through the first two Gorges, the Qutang Gorge and the Wu Gorge. Then take an excursion down Shennong Stream, a small gorge on small boats winding through primitive waters. Then enter Xiling Gorge, the longest of the Three Gorges. In the evening, sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship lock. |

Yichang - Shanghai (AB, L, D)
This morning excursion is to the Three Gorges Dam, the largest project of its kind in the world. Disembark your cruise ship at Yichang. After lunch you'll take a flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, you will be met by your Asia Journeys' local guide and visit the Bund. |

Yichang - Shanghai (AB, L, D)
Your sightseeing starts at the Shanghai Museum which houses 120,000 cultural artifacts. The highlights of this exhibit include bronze ware, pottery porcelain ware, paintings and invaluable calligraphy works. Continue to the Jade Buddha Temple, the Yu Garden and Nanjing Road. Today dinner is on your own. |

Shanghai (AB, L)
Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the USA. |
